Job Role
The Technical Assistant / Laboratory Support Technician will provide hands-on technical support for the development, assembly, integration and testing of embedded electronic systems and laboratory prototypes.
The candidate should have a Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or a related field, with a practical understanding of electronic circuits and the ability to work independently with laboratory equipment, circuit assemblies, wiring and test setups.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and test electronic circuits using breadboards, development boards and prototype assemblies.
Read and understand basic circuit diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
Perform through-hole and basic SMD soldering and rework.
Prepare and assemble PCB-based electronic assemblies.
Perform PCB assembly inspection, continuity checks and basic troubleshooting.
Carry out wiring, harness preparation, connector assembly and subsystem interconnections.
Integrate electronic subsystems, sensors, actuators, power supplies and controllers as per defined procedures.
Set up laboratory test benches and experimental setups.
Follow established test procedures and test instructions.
Perform functional, electrical and subsystem-level testing and record test observations, measurements and results accurately.
Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, components and test fixtures.
Maintain proper records of assembly, testing, modifications and test results.
Prepare basic test reports, checklists and other laboratory documentation.
Follow laboratory safety, ESD protection and good electronic assembly practices.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems or a related engineering discipline.
Good practical understanding of basic electronic circuits and components.
Hands-on experience with breadboard circuit assembly.
Good soldering and desoldering skills.
Familiarity with sensors, connectors, cables and electronic interfaces.
Ability to use laboratory test equipments like multimeter and oscilloscope for basic testing and troubleshooting.
Ability to follow test procedures accurately and maintain test records.
Good hands-on aptitude and willingness to work in a laboratory/prototype-development environment.
Good to Have
Exposure to embedded systems and microcontroller-based circuits.
Experience with development boards and prototype embedded systems.
Experience in subsystem integration and laboratory test setups.
Familiarity with ESD-safe handling and electronics laboratory practices.
Exposure to automotive, aerospace, industrial automation or other embedded-system applications.
Educational Qualification
Essential:
Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems or a related field.
Experience
2–5 years of relevant experience in electronics assembly, embedded systems laboratories, PCB assembly, testing or system integration.
Fresh Diploma holders with strong practical electronics skills and hands-on laboratory/project experience may also be considered.
