About Nabhdrishti Aerospace

Nabhdrishti Aerospace is a deep-tech aerospace company developing indigenous micro gas turbine engines and propulsion systems for aviation and defence applications. We are building complex, high-performance products from the ground up, with a mission to create globally competitive aerospace propulsion technology from India.

As we move from product development and testing toward commercialization, industrialization, and scaling our product line, we are seeking an experienced, execution-oriented Chief of Production to establish, lead, and scale our production operations and physical infrastructure for development and manufacturing of our engines.

About the Role

This is a foundational leadership role in our startup, responsible for building production capabilities from the ground up, developing manufacturing processes, establishing assembly and testing infrastructure, and ensuring that the facility is safe, efficient, compliant, and ready to support the company's product development and industrialization roadmap.

The ideal candidate will combine strong manufacturing engineering expertise with hands-on operational leadership, facility planning, supplier coordination, and the ability to work closely with design, engineering, quality, supply chain, and testing teams.

Key Responsibilities

1  Production Planning and Execution

·        Establish and lead industrial production of micro gas turbine engines, including manufacturing processes and assembly operations.

·        Develop and execute production plans covering capacity, resources, schedules, material readiness, work-in-progress, and delivery commitments.

·        Coordinate prototype builds, engineering changes, rework, and production readiness reviews with Engineering and Quality.

·        Improve productivity, cycle time, and resource utilization while maintaining safety and quality.

2  Facility Development and Infrastructure

·        Lead greenfield facility planning and development, defining layouts and infrastructure for assembly, inspection laboratories, test cells, utilities, and storage.

·        Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness.

·        Ensure safe material movement, efficient workflows, controlled storage, and provision for future expansion.

·        Manage infrastructure development schedules, contractors, and facility-related vendor contracts.

3  Equipment Tooling and Asset Management

·        Specify, evaluate, and procure production machinery, assembly tools, inspection equipment, test-support equipment, and facility assets.

·        Prepare technical specifications, capital expenditure proposals, equipment utilization plans, and commissioning schedules.

·        Establish preventive maintenance, calibration, asset tracking, and equipment lifecycle management systems.

·        Develop contingency plans for critical equipment and infrastructure failures.

4  Quality Safety and Compliance

·        Work with Quality and Engineering to establish production controls, inspection points, nonconformance management, and manufacturing traceability.

·        Implement document control, material identification, configuration management, and records-retention practices.

·        Partner with Quality to implement an aerospace quality management system and achieve AS9100 certification where required by the business or customers; maintain readiness for customer and certification audits.

·        Own facility readiness for applicable statutory registrations, licences, consents, and approvals, coordinating with relevant specialists and authorities.

·        Ensure compliance with applicable industrial, environmental, fire, occupational safety, and aerospace requirements.

·        Establish safe operating procedures, risk assessments, emergency response plans, and audits covering manufacturing and engine testing.

5  Supply Chain, Inventory and Vendor Management

·        Develop and execute a robust supply chain strategy with supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and contingency planning.

·        Manage inventory and optimize warehouse layout, storage, stock levels, material availability, and inventory accuracy.

·        Monitor long-lead equipment, critical materials, outsourced processes, and supplier capacity.

·        Resolve production bottlenecks arising from supplier delays, component shortages, equipment availability, or process limitations.

6  Team Building and Operational Leadership

·        Recruit, build, and lead production, manufacturing engineering, facilities, maintenance, and shop-floor teams from scratch.

·        Define organization structure, staffing plans, responsibilities, training, and performance expectations aligned with production growth.

·        Establish standard operating procedures, shift schedules, operational reviews, and clear accountability.

·        Build a culture of ownership, discipline, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

·        Develop an operating model suited to a startup, balancing speed, cost, technical rigor, and scalability.

7  Budgeting Metrics and Continuous Improvement

·        Develop and manage budgets for production, equipment, facility development, maintenance, and operations.

·        Track production output, quality, delivery, cycle time, equipment utilization, inventory, and cost; drive corrective actions and improvements.

·        Report production readiness, facility status, budget performance, and execution risks to the leadership team.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or an MBA degree.

·        At least 10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, production engineering, industrial operations, or facility development, including leadership of production teams and operations at scale.

·        Demonstrated experience establishing greenfield facilities or scaling manufacturing operations and complex engineering infrastructure.

·        Strong understanding of precision manufacturing, assembly, tooling, metrology, equipment commissioning, and production planning.

·        Experience managing capital equipment procurement, infrastructure projects, operating budgets, and technical vendors.

·        Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead teams in a technically demanding environment.

·        Strong understanding of industrial safety, operational risk management, and quality systems.

·        Experience in aerospace manufacturing and AS9100 implementation is a plus.
